Opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Thursday that his party Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) will not be a part of any constitutional amendment.
Commenting on Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani reversing his statements regarding DG ISI and the army chief, Nisar said that the prime minister's statements have become a joke and have insulted the country all over the world.
"The prime minister should think before he speaks," he added.
Nisar said that the government is standing as a hurdle in the process of free and fair elections in the country. "To have free and fair elections in the country, it is important that we all stand united. Whoever tries to rig the elections will be an enemy of the country."
He demanded the appointment of an independent Chief Election Commission.
"We want an election commissioner who is sincere, and this can only happen when the government is sincere" Nisar said while adding that the government should look into the matter of appointing a new Chief election Commissioner as only one-and-a-half month is left for the tenure of the incumbent CEC to expire.
