ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI  – Libraries play a major role to promote literacy in any nation but education system of the twin cities has lowered the number of libraries in educational institutions.
Reading facilities are not ideal for children in the cities and they are compelled to use Internet and other technological instruments to fulfil their requirement, which has taken them away from book reading and visiting libraries.
Sajid Hammad, a teacher by profession, is deeply concern about the lack of libraries for the children said that usually libraries contain useful material for the children and also encourages their reading skills but due to shortage of libraries in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, children read different other books from different shops or small libraries which are established by different persons.

These people are providing material of their own choice, which sometimes contains unethical things and badly affects the innocent mind, he added.
Government is also responsible for the current situation because any government in past has not shown any interest towards this sector and fully ignored this important side. Despite establishing children libraries here they are shying away from it.
