A ‘pressure group’ pressing govt for unconstitutional demands: Naek

Terming Tahirul Qadri a ‘pressure group’, Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naek has said that a specific pressure group was pressing the government to fulfil its extra-constitutional demands.

The law minister was called to Karachi by President Asif Ali Zardari and reached Islamabad on Sunday and was not part of government’s team for talks with Tahirul Qadri in Lahore.
Talking to a private TV channel here on Sunday, Farooq H Naek said that Tahirul Qadri’s demand to dissolve election commission was extra-constitutional, adding that a pressure group was pressing for reformation conflicting constitution.
He made it clear that neither the Election Commission nor its members could be removed or dissolved as every move in this connection was made in accordance with the constitution.
“We don’t know why such unconstitutional demands were being made,” Naek added.
