Punjab Govt equally responsible for energy crisis: Imran

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Wednesday said that Punjab government is equally responsible along side the federal government for the energy crisis in the country because after 18th amendment provinces were empowered to produce electricity but the Punjab government did nothing in this regard. Imran Khan was addressing a press conference here after a ceremony organized at the party Central Secretariat where Chairman of Madaris Ahl-e-Sunnet Sajjada Nasheen Khanqah Chishtiyan Mufti Abdul Qavi joined PTI while President of PTI Mukhdoom Javed Hashmi and Senior Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi were also present on the occasion. Imran Khan said that appointment of ‘Raja Rental’ as the new prime minister of Pakistan is shame for the masses because President Asif Ali Zardari appointed Raja Pervaiz as new PM to conceal his Rs6 billion corruption. Imran said that PTI would not contest the election in NA-151 constituency vacated after the disqualification of Yousaf Raza Gilani by the apex court. Imran said that Punjab government also failed to produce even one megawatt electricity during its four years tenure, adding that the Punjab government was equally responsible for the energy crisis in the province because after 18th amendment provinces were empowered to generate electricity but the provincial government did not take steps in this regard. Imran Khan said that Pakistan’s creation had been pointless if the country failed to become an Islamic welfare state. He said that the failure of Pakistan becoming an Islamic welfare state will be a deception for all Muslims residing in India, because Pakistan was “formed on the very basis of becoming an Islamic welfare state.” The PTI chairman said that there was no concept of welfare states in Europe and that they had taken this concept from the Muslim world. “They formed all the Scandinavian states based on this concept. They call it Omar’s law there. We need to bring our culture back to our own land.” Speaking on the issue of drone strikes, the PTI chief said that he was happy to see former US president Jimmy Carter’s criticism on the drone attacks. “Carter openly criticized [US President Barack] Obama’s drone campaign and termed it as assassination. He said that it was not only a violation of international laws but also humanitarian laws.”
