Malik did not apologise in contempt case: CJ

Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, instead of apologising, has validated his stance regarding Steel Mills case, Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhary remarked while hearing contempt of court case against him.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary on Thursday heard the contempt of court case against Interior Minister Abdur Rehman Malik. Malik’s lawyer, Azhar Chaudhary told the court that his client is not in the country.
Azhar Chaudhary requested the court to adjourn the hearing for one week. At this the Chief Justice said that Rehman Malik himself asked the court to hold hearing on Thursday.
It merits mentioning here that Rehman Malik submitted a written letter in the Supreme Court according to which he has not apologised for his actions but defended his stance.
The court adjourned the hearing till October 1.
