ISLAMABAD - Girls outperformed boys in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual Examination 2012 of the Federal Board Part II by grabbing the first two positions in both the groups of science and humanities. Two madrassah students also bagged second and third positions in humanities group.
According to the results, Urooj Mustafa of Jinnah Education System Taxila Cantt clinched the overall first position by securing 1024 marks in the science group while Moiz Rehan of Islamabad Model College for Boys G-10/4, Islamabad, got second position with 1022 marks and third position went to Sana Shahid of Garrison Academy for Girls Sarfaraz Rafique Road Lahore Cantt who secured 1020 marks. In Humanities Group again a girl student, Ifra Urooj of Wah Islamic School of Excellence Model Town, Wah Cantt, secured first position with 946 marks while Aziz Ul Haq and Muhammad Usman of Institute of Islamic Science Satara Meel, FA, Islamabad, bagged the second and third positions securing 945 and 932 marks respectively.
Total 64327 candidates had appeared in the exam and out of them 52326 were declared successful with overall pass percentage of 81.34.
According to the statement issued by the board, total 49692 regular candidates had appeared in the exam, out of them 45206 were declared successful with pass percentage of 90.97. As many as 14635 private and ex-students had appeared and of them 7120 passed the examination with 48.65 pass percentage.
The girls in regular candidates performed well as compared to boys in the both groups as the pass percentage of girls in science group remained 96.22 as compared to boys that remained 90.48 while in humanities girls secured 84.76 pass percentage and boys’ pass percentage remained 63.45. Girls who appeared as ex/private candidates in science groups were declared successful with 64.31 percentage as compared to boys who secured 50.01 pass percentage. In humanities group pass percentage of girl candidates remained 48.46 while pass percentage of boys remained 34.12.
All those candidates desirous of improving their grade/marks can do so by reappearing in up to two papers/subjects of their choice or entire examination in current course within a period of one year after the declaration of result, the board announced. Result of some candidates has been indicated as RL (result later on), which will be declared on completion of requirements on the part of the candidates/board.
Those candidates placed under compartment are allowed to appear in the next examination as per rules, if otherwise eligible. The SSC Supplementary Examination 2012 will commence from September 12, the last date of submission of admission form along with admission fee in the board office is July 23, 2012.
The statement said that this year 21 unfair means cases were reported, out of which 18 cases have been decided.
