In the meeting Federal Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and other senior officials were also present. They underscored the urgency of addressing the issue of electricity shortage in the country.
The members of Awami Nantional Party delegation mentioned that the completion of Chashma Right Bank Canal and Munda Dam was of immense importance for the agriculture of the province and also to serve as an effective measure to control floods throughout the country.
On the occasion, Minister for Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh assured that the Ministry of Finance will allocate sufficient funds to meet the entire demand for the land acquisition of the Kurram Tangi Dam project.
The Secretary Finance apprised the meeting that government of France had offered 12 million euros for the project as a soft loan.
About the Lawari Tunnel, the meeting was apprised that the work will resume as the federal government had already released funds for the purpose.
The Awami Nantional Party delegation members included Senators Muhammad Zahid Khan, Afrasiab Khattak, lawmakers Masood Abbas and Bushra Gohar.
Meanwhile, Senators and MNAs from tribal areas led by Haji Muneer Khan Orakzai met the prime minister and felicitated the Prime Minister as being the longest serving democratically elected Prime Minister of the country and thus made an enviable history.
They also endorsed the ruling of the Speaker of the National Assembly adding that the decision of the Speaker would establish the supremacy of Parliament and the strengthening of the democratic institutions in the country.
The Minister for Finance briefed the delegation about the upcoming budget saying the forthcoming budget will ensure regional balance and equitable allocation of government resources.
The needs of tribal areas citizens came under discussion with special reference to imparting training in information technology sector including setting up of such centres.
It was also decided that the federal government would set up a modern hospital in tribal areas to provide medical facilities to the people.
The projects of Medical College, Cadet College and Information Technology University will be taken up at the earliest, the finance minister added.
