ISLAMABAD - A delegation of MQM led by Parliamentary Leader Dr Farooq Sattar called on Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani at the Prime Minister’s House on Monday and discussed various development projects to determine priorities for the next Annual Development Programme (ADP).
The Prime Minister, while talking about salient features of the forthcoming budget, said there would be no new taxes. Gilani said due to the policies of the democratic government, food security had been achieved and Pakistan had become wheat and sugar exporting country.
Layari Expressway also came under discussion during the meeting.
The Finance Minister said that JAICA team is scheduled to visit early next month and concrete progress would be made regarding Karachi Circular Railway Project and process for initiating the work on the project.
The project will be completed with the funding of Japanese government to the extent of 98 percent.
It was also agreed in principle that K-4 Water Supply, Karachi project would be given priority and the Federal Government would extend all possible financial and technical assistance to the provincial government in the completion of a very important venture.
Senator Sughra Imam apprised the delegation that a Malaysian firm had firmed up all the arrangements to undertake the project of M-9 Motorway between Hyderabad and Karachi.
