ISLAMABAD - Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Nadeem Hassan Asif has said that CDA has taken concrete steps to prevent dengue fever in the federal capital and an awareness campaign would be launched to achieve the desired results.
Chairman CDA Nadeem Hassan Asif said this while chairing a meeting held in connection with prevention against dengue fever here at CDA headquarters on Friday. Munir Ahmed Chaudhry (Member Admin), Ahsan Ali Mangi (Member Environment), Azhar Ali Chaudhry (Member Finance) and other officers of the relevant wings were also present on this occasion.
The chairman said that CDA will utilise all available resources to prevent dengue fever in Islamabad. He said that dengue could be defeated through coordinated efforts among different wings of the authority.
The chairman said that the campaign would not only be publicised through print and electronic media but also through the vibrant social media. He said that he himself would monitor the campaign and directed concerned officers to submit report on daily basis.
The chairman CDA appointed Member Administration Munir Ahmed Chaudhry as the focal person and in-charge of the dengue fever prevention campaign while director security will assist him during this campaign.
Director Health Services, Dr Hassan Aroooj, apprised the chairman that to achieve the desired results of this campaign, Islamabad has been divided into four zones and teams have been deputed to collect the water samples from different areas to detect the presence of dengue larva. He said in case of dengue larva detection, anti-dengue spray would be carried out not only in these specific areas but also in the 500 meters surroundings.
He further apprised that short video commercials carrying awareness slogan would be publicised through different LED screens installed at different locations of Islamabad. He further apprised that banners would be installed in different parks carrying awareness picture messages.
The director health further apprised that residents especially women would be educated to take measures for eradication of larva of dengue mosquitoes.
The chairman CDA directed sanitation directorate to ensure daily cleanliness of the city. He also directed roads directorate to ensure proper water drainage from the nullahs along roads. He directed member environment to remove shrubs and ensure grass cutting from the open spaces so that chances of spread of dengue larva could be minimised.
