ISLAMABAD - Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Wednesday said that Saudi Arabia has always helped Pakistan in difficult times and relations between the two brotherly countries are historically very close.Speaking at a function about “Outline of Efforts of Saudi Arabia for Pakistan” at the Saudi Embassy, he said that Pakistan was thankful to the Custodians of the Two Holy Mosques over the generous support for the victims of 2005 earthquake and 2010 and 2011 floods. The minister thanked the Saudi Ambassador and the head of Saudi relief organization for wholehearted support and assistance for Pakistanis in distress.Qamar Zaman Kaira particularly thanked Saudi Arabia for the construction of 8000 pre-fabricated houses for the survivors of victims of earthquake in Balakot‚ Bagh and Muzaffarabad besides revival of health and education sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir. He said that the people of Pakistan would always remember the Saudi assistance extended to Pakistan in these natural calamities.On the occasion, Kaira said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy historic brotherly relations. Deputy Head of Mission Jasim Khalid said that a distinctive and unique aspect of Saudi Aid is its Public Assistance Programmes for Pakistani population under the patronage of Saudi leadership.
