Three arms smugglers arrested

KARACHI - Anti-Extremist Cell of Crime Investigation Department claimed to have arrested three arms smugglers from Maripur area.

The arrests were disclosed in a press conference held on Saturday at the Anti-Extremist Cell office located in Garden Headquarters.
The accused were identified as Muhammad Rafiq, Ashraf and Naveed. The Anti-Extremist Cell officials also claimed to have recovered ten hand grenades, five Kalashnikovs, ten repeaters, ten TT pistols, 500 ammunitions, 40kg of Hashish and a car.
According to Anti-Extremist Cell Chief SSP Aslam Khan, the arrested men are affiliated with an inter-provincial group of arms smugglers. He said that they were arrested after a raid conducted on a tip-off near Hub River Road, Maripur.
Khan said that two culprits namely Pir Buksh and Amin Baloch were managed to escape during raid under the cover of firing. He said that the recovered weapons had to be smuggled to the different criminal groups.
