Law against vulgarity must be implemented: APC


KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan deputy chief Prof Ghafoor Ahmed has said that immodesty was such a horrible evil that, if allowed to prevail, would eliminate all good aspects of a society as could be observed in a piece of wood that the termite had hollowed from inside.
Life of any civilised society could only be ensured if that society would strictly follow nature’s unchanging principles for abstaining from the evils and adhering to the goodness of everything.
He was addressing the All Party Conference (APC) at the Idra-e Noor-e Haq Monday. Leaders of different political and religious parties addressed the APC.
Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf leader Aslam Rajput said that there was a law against the vulgarity but was not implemented. The perpetrators had by promoting the culture of nudity invited Taliban to come and take over.
JUP leader Dr Siddique Rathor said that raising voice against the vulgarity was “Jihad”. It was written in the constitution of Pakistan that any act in the country would never be contrary to Islamic Sharia but it happening in the country.
Syed Zia Abbas said that nude posters were widely displayed on city’s roads but the government had no time to look at the fast spreading destructive wave of nudity.
Mufti Usman Yar Khan said that eminent people should play their role to motivate people against the vulgarity. Mirza Yousuf Hussain said that freedom of expression that advocated freedom of nudity and vulgarity was unacceptable.  Mir Nawaz khan Marwat said that not only electronic but print media was also being used for the promotion of nudity.  Mehfooz Yar Khan said that no religion in the world allowed nudity or vulgarity. People should boycott those TV channels that promoted nudity and vulgarity.
Muhammad Ejaz Mustafa, Maulana Abdul Waheed, Matloob Awan, Michael Javed, Syed Ausat Ali, Muhammad Yar Khan and others also addressed.
The APC has passed a resolution at the conference. The resolution read that every nation had a unique civilization, which consisted of their style of living, dietary habits and items of food they preferred most, their architectures and their worship.
The APC demanded that immediate steps should be taken to stop the promotion
of the culture of vulgarism and nudity, which was absolutely in violation to the constitution of the country.  The media should be controlled and not allowed to promote the culture of vulgarity on the pretext of freedom of expression.  The PEMRA should ensure complete implementation of the code of ethics and initiate stern action against those that violate it.  The PTA should immediately block all websites that furnish pornographic material.
The government should play its role for the elimination of the culture of vulgarity and should take steps for the protection of future of the youth.
