PPP govt gave equal rights to minorities

KARACHI - The government of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has given equal rights to the minorities in the country, asserted Sindh Minister for Minorities Affairs Dr Mohan Lal on Sunday.

  Speaking as the chief guest at a ceremony held to to distribute cheques among poor minority people at the People’s Secretariat here, Dr Mohan Lal pointed out that in past, the minorities were neglected but the PPP government gave equal rights to all the minorities of the country and now they were enjoying equal rights.    The ceremony was held under the auspices of the PPP Minority Wing Karachi.
  The minister demanded that the quota for the minorities in the government services be enhanced from 5 per cent to 10 per cent and that they should be recruited in all cadres.
  The minister announced development schemes of Rs 20 million for minorities in five districts of Karachi including “Esa Nagri”, the biggest and thickly populated area of Christian Community.   The President of the PPP Minority Wing Karachi Division, Mushtaq Matu, Iqbal Bhatti, Emanveil Gill, Madan Lat, Baji Maryam and others also spoke on the occasion.
