KARACHI - Five policemen were arrested and a Station House Officer of the Sohrab Goth police station was suspended on Saturday.
Police said that Khan was a psycho. He was sitting in a Masjid situated near his resident in Zia Colony, Korangi on which mosque committee and residents of the area trying to get him out. Khan offered resistance when a bullet fired from Afzal’s sub machinegun. Resultantly, Khan sustained bullet wounds and died on the spot.
The policemen were later suspended and arrested following the protest staged by the victims’ family.
Similarly, two police constables Faraz and Anwar of the Sharafi Goth police station were suspended and arrested after two suspects, Nawaz and Saqib managed to escape from the police custody.
Police officials said that the suspects were allegedly involved in the attack on former president of Malir Bar Association, Amanullah Yousufzai who escaped in an attack on Friday night and the suspects were also arrested red-handed.
Sohrab Goth police station SHO Aziz Sheikh was also suspended for negligence. SHO Sheikh was found guilty during an inquiry constituted to probe the attack on the Sohrab Goth police post in which unidentified men set at least five vehicles on fire during the protest against the law enforcers for delaying the FIR of the murder of a young truck driver.
A police constable of the New Karachi police station, Farooq, 50, was booked in the murder FIR of Farooq and injuring another Malik Saeed in Shahnawaz Bhutto Colony within Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police remits. DSP Muhammad Akhtar said that the case had also been registered against Farooq, adding that cop resorted firing over personal dispute.
SINDH ASSEMBLY SESSION: The Sindh Assembly’s rescheduled session would start from tomorrow (February 4) without any important business on the agenda.
Acting Governor Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has summoned the session of Sindh Assembly to meet with acting Speaker Shehla Raza in the chair today at 10am tomorrow.
Earlier, on the recommendation of the law department, the Governor Sindh Dr Isharatul Ebad had summoned the Sindh Assembly session on February 6.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat left for abroad on Friday for four days, and Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro took the charge as acting governor the same day.
After assuming the charge by the Speaker as acting governor, the law department moved a summary to the governor seeking convening of Sindh Assembly session hurriedly for today on Saturday but late night the rescheduling it summoned the session tomorrow on Monday.
MQM’s MPA Manzar Imam was killed last month, so it is likely that session would be postponed soon after prayer and tribute by the members to him.
A new member Sarfraz Shah Shah who was elected from Naushero Feroze in by-election will take oath as member Sindh Assembly.
