KARACHI - Federal Urdu University of Arts and Science (FAUST) staff have have expressed their serious concerns over the second advertisement of Higher Education Commission (HEC) in which the condition of Ph D qualification has been relaxed for the appointment of the new FUUAST Vice Chancellor.The teachers, members of senate and syndicate of FUUAST demanded that a candidate at least with a doctorate degree should be considered for the said academic post.A statement of Anjuman Asataza FUUAST Abdul Haq Campus, issued here on Friday, said that according to HEC’s own policy a person not holding at least a doctorate degree could not be considered for the post of vice chancellor.It said that a PhD degree is even mandatory for appointment on the posts of assistant professor, associate professor, professor and dean. The statement said the relaxation of holding doctorate degree for the post of VC would open a backdoor for appointing non-qualified people on the said posts. They demanded of President Asif Zardari, the chancellor of federal University, to take notice of the conspiracies being hatched at the varsity and ensure that only doctorate degree holders would be considered for the post of VC as per the HEC rules.
