KARACHI - ‘Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’ and Lyari gangsters contribute more than 70 percent in extortion, abduction, killing and other crimes of the city but operation against them that is remain out of question in possible Karachi operation.
A police officer wished to be anonymous revealed that authorities have declined to carry out operation against the Lyari gangsters and no one has raised the issue of ‘TTP’ operatives in Karachi.
The reported statistics revealed that 1,438 people have been killed in last eight months. Incidents reported revealed that more than 692 people were killed alone in district south and adjoining areas while more than 297 people were victimised in district west.
The reported incidents also pointed out that some 421 people were abducted and tortured before their bodies were being thrown in different areas of the metropolis. The bodies of 257 people were again found from the surrounding areas of Lyari while 97 were recovered from different areas of district west.
As many as 20 to 30 percent incidents have been reported across the city, including the areas that were dominated by gangsters and extremists. Some areas of district Malir and Bin Qasim were also dominated the outlawed gangsters and religious fundamentalists.
The reported statistics of extortion, abduction and killing cases except other crimes in last couple of years proved that maximum contribution of crimes were made from district West and South. The trend of mutilated tortured bodies is much common in aforementioned both districts and 80 percent of total bodies were found from the Old City areas where ruthless gangsters also brought the abducted victims to different places for gunshot after brutal torture in captivity.
Hussain Kutchi leader of Kutchi Rabita Council (KRC) told that internally displaced Kutchies were repatriated after the assurance of security given by the authorities concerned. How the security agencies can take action against the gangsters when they could not establish nine check-posts in the area. On the other side, operatives of criminals are remain operating in various localities of district west, including Kanwari Colony, Sultanabad, Chota Plaza Sohrab Goth, Pakhtunabad and other surrounding areas.
It is worth mentioning here that there are no industrial areas remain existed in between the Kimari to Kanwari Colony because of the proportional increase of extortion. Most of the businessmen have either closed their businesses or shifted their small industries because of the life threats. The worst law and order situation compelled inhabitants of the area to stand up against the militants.
Residents of Pakthunabad told The Nation that they have established their own force for their security and appointed 25 local armed guards for the area with the contribution of rupees 200 monthly from each home.
Malook Shah, a resident of the area, pointed out criminals had killed over 20 people compelling them to make a force for their safety. “Other Pushtoon Tribes settled in different areas have also established their own security force to counter the criminals abducting people for ransom and killing over suspicion.”
