4 dead: 38 suspects arrested in City

KARACHI - The bodies of at least four abducted people were found in different parts of the City on Friday while about 38 suspects were nabbed during different raids in metropolis by law enforcement agencies.

The bodies of the two young boys were found from Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road, Lyari within the limits of Kalri police station. Police officials said that the bodies were placed in the gunny bags, adding that the victims’ hands and legs were also tied with ropes and they were tortured badly before shooting. Their bodies were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi where they were identified as 17-year-old Ali Haider, son of Ghulam Yasin and Farhan, 21, son of Younus. Police officials said that both the youths were residents of Ranchore Lane area of old city and were associated with the artificial jewellery business, adding that they were kidnapped on Thursday morning when they left homes for work.
Police officials said that the killing after abduction of both youths is a series of ongoing violence in old city area on ethnic basis. Police have registered the case against unidentified persons on the complaint of Farhan’s father and initiated further investigation.
Another body placed in the gunny bag was found from the Lyari River near Dhobi Ghat area within the limits of Pak Colony police station. Police officials said that the identification of the victim has yet to be ascertained, adding that the culprits also cut-off the victim’s hands and legs with sharp material. The body was moved to Edhi morgue, Sohrab Goth for identification after medico-legal formalities completed at CHK.
A middle-age man who is yet to be identified was found dead from Super Highway within the limits of Sacchal police station. Police officials said that the victim was shot multiple times and the body was apparently two-day old, adding that the motive behind the incident would be ascertained after the identification.
Meanwhile, over three dozen suspects were taken into the custody during separate raids and targeted operations in parts of the city on Friday.
In Dalmia area of the Aziz Bhatti, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, a heavy contingent of Rangers conducted operation and apprehended about 17 suspects during door-to-door search operation. According to sources in Rangers, three operatives of gang war were also among the detainees who were taken into the custody during search operation in Dalmia’s Shanti Nagar and recovered two hand grenades and other weaponry from their possession. Sources further said that the arrested gangsters belong to Mullah Sohail group.
About 15 more suspects were taken into the custody during door-to-door search operation in Kunwari Colony of Orangi Town. According to Rangers sources, the search operation was conducted on a tip-off about presence of some suspects while weapons were also recovered from the possession of few suspects.
Meanwhile, Crime Investigation Department claimed to have arrested half dozen suspects during separate raids in Darakshan and Gizri areas and also seized six TT pistols from their possession. The suspects included Ali Harmain, Babar, Syed Noor, Ejaz, Qaiser Khan and Mujeed Ali. The CID officials said that the arrested culprits were involved in several cases of crimes.
