The spate of violence and firing incidents could not be halted in the new year as bodies of at least five people were recovered overnight from different areas of the metropolis.

Three bodies were found in gunny bags in the city around Thursday midnight.
The victims were kidnapped, tortured and shot to death before being dumped in the gunny bags, police said, adding that the bodies were recovered from different locations in the metropolis. The deceased were yet to be identified.
Body of a youth was found from Native Jetty Bridge in the limit of Jackson Police Station. The youth was kidnapped and shot to death.
Besides, body of another youth was found from Shershah area near Shaheen restaurant. He was abducted, tortured and gunned down.
