KARACHI – Controversy mars Pakistan Sports Writers Federation elections which were originally scheduled to be held on June 2, but were put off for a day to give time to all 5 units to settle down some very important differences regarding non following of rules and regulations and one man show of Amjed Aziz Malik, who never bothers to take all the office bearers on board here in Karachi on Sunday, as two units Sports Journalists Association Sindh and Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association boycotted the election process. Both these associations requested the chairman election commission to take notice of severe violations as the opposite panel made the nomination of 1 candidate from RISJA without the approval of parent body, which is the sheer violation of PSWF constitution which only allows nomination through concerned unit.Despite trying their level best to try to implement PSWF rules in true letter and sprit the opposite panel never paid any heed, which resulted in boycott from both SJAS and RISJA.Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS) and Rawalpindi-Islamabad Journalists Association (RISJA) delegates decided not to sit in the illegal election process after the sitting secretary failed to fulfill the constitutional requirement, and we don’t want to be the part of illegal process, these views were expressed by a determined Rashid Ali Siddiqui, President PSWF while talking to this scribe. He further said, the constitution clearly mentioned that only the parent body could nominate their delegate for election. However, this requirement was not fulfilled. Secondly, the treasure was never allowed during the last one year to maintain association account, instead secretary himself secretly operated the accounts without treasurer knowledge. Two leading units did not even submit their annual fee with the treasure they were still allowed to contest the election, under these circumstances we were left with no other option but to boycott this illegal practice, Rashid concluded.
