KARACHI – The Balochistan government has failed to provide security to doctors as the kidnappings of senior doctors have become the order of the day.
This was discussed in an emergency meeting of PMA held at PMA House Karachi the other day. Prof STipu Sultan presided over the meeting, which was attended by Dr Mirza Ali Azhar, Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad, Dr Idrees Adhi, Dr Qazi M Wasiq, Dr Ahmed Bhemani, Dr Hamid Manzoor, Dr Khalil Mukkadam, Dr Aziz Khan Tank, Dr Shershah Syed, Dr Naseer Baloch, Dr Usman Ghani, Dr Najam Feroz Mehmoodi and many other senior members of the organisation.
“The PMA strongly condemns the kidnapping of senior Psychiatrist Prof Dr Ghulam Rasool of BMC. Dr Ghulam Rasool was kidnapped from Brori Road Quetta on August 1. This incident happened just within 36 hours of Dr Din Mohammad Balooch’s recovery from kidnappers. It is feared that the big political groups and influential people like Sardars and Waderas of are involved directly or the kidnappers have their backing.
Otherwise once the writ of the government is established then these crimes can be brought under control,” senior members of PMA said.
“PMA is extremely concerned about this situation of law and order in the country in general and the province of Balochistan in particular. It seems as there is no rule of klaw.
PMA demands that the culprits who are involved in the kidnapping of the doctors of Balochistan should be dealt with an iron hand.
We demand an early and safe recovery of senior psychiatrist Prof Dr. Ghulam Rasool and Pakistan Medical Association also demands of the governments of Sindh and Balochistan to provide security to the doctors and exemplary punishment for all the criminals involved in these crimes. Otherwise PMA will launch a country-wide protest,” they said.
