KARACHI - Three people including a cop were killed in separate incidents of target killing here on Tuesday.
The deceased head constable Sardar Ali Hassan Jamali, 40, was shot dead in the wee hours of Tuesday where he was sitting at a teashop. At least two armed culprits riding a motorcycle came close to him and opened fire on him. As a result, he was shot thrice in his head and neck and died on the spot. His body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre from where it was later handed over to his family.
He was posted to the CID Civil Line since the department was established in 2002. Earlier, he was associated with the Anti-Terrorism Wing. He was living in Pir Bukhari Colony near Old Sabzi Mandi and hailed from Balochistan. He left behind a widow and four children. CID (Operations) SSP Fayyaz Khan said that deceased had played his vital role about to probe the cases of terrorism and crime including target killings and the criminals targeted him as he become hazard for them.
Separately a supporter of MQM was shot dead in Murad Khan Road within the limits of Garden police station. At least two armed motorcyclists shot dead an owner of the car decoration service shop. He was identified as Javed, 38, resident of the same area.
SHO Mutahir Hussain said that deceased was sitting at his shop when the incident took place. He was a MQM supporter. The officer said that another MQM worker Babar was sitting along with the victim minutes before the incident took place and might have been possible that the culprits’ target was Babar but as he left the shop minutes before, the culprits shot dead Javed mistakenly. The victim’s body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. No case was registered.
In another incident police found a shot dead body of young man from Juna Masjid Road in the precincts of Kalri police station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained, while police found his body near from Nullah in Juna Masjid Road Lyari. SHO Safdar Mashwani said identity of victim is yet to be ascertained while victim hands and legs were tied with ropes and he received a bullet on his head.
He said victim wears white Shalwar Kameez and appears to be Urdu Speaking. The body was shifted to CHK for legal formalities and moved to Edhi Morgue. Police registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of state and initiated probe into the case.
Moreover, Azizabad police have registered an FIR No 146/12 over the hand grenade attack at a unit office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in Hussainabad locality. An MQM activist Shahabuddin was injured in the attack occurred late on Monday night. The case was registered against two unidentified persons while the police have placed the sections of Anti-Terrorism Act and Explosive Act.
Meanwhile, Sindh Rangers Director General Major General Rizwan Akhtar today called on Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House.
The meeting discussed law and order situation prevailing in the province of Sindh particularly in Karachi city. DG Rangers apprised the Chief Minister Sindh about measures taken by the Rangers along with Police for curbing the activities of criminals and anti-social elements.
Chief Minister Sindh stressed the need to have constant vigilance and action across the board. He said that the law enforcement agencies should take prompt measures and action without any consideration or favour. He further said that patrolling of Rangers and Police be increased and sensitive areas be properly covered with vigilance and monitoring.
Director General Ranges Sindh informed the Chief Minister Sindh about efforts and action so far taken and hoped that better results are expected soon. Various measures were also discussed in the meeting.
