CM Qaim  demands early completion of ongoing projects

KARACHI – Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday directed the departments concerned to fully concentrate on speedy completion of maximum development schemes in the province.

He said special attention should be paid to development schemes in sectors of health, education, irrigation and works & services.
Chairing a joint meeting of Finance and P&D Departments held at CM House, he also said that a separate meeting of heads of those departments to be held on Thursday (today), so as to finalize the schemes nearer to completion, to be completed within one month.
While attending a detailed briefing of P&D Department, the CM directed for prioritizing and making concerted efforts to take up schemes particularly belonging to health, education, communication, works and coal energy.
He also called an emergent meeting of the important department and heads of those departments will attend the meeting.
The meeting will rationalize those schemes which can be completed within a period of one month, while efforts will be made to complete ongoing schemes.
Qaim directed that the schemes initiated in Qasimabad (Hyderabad), particularly the drainage projects, be completed earlier and roads be constructed there later.
He said that maximum schemes under MPAs’ special programme, pertaining to village electrification and provision of gas in village, must be completed soon.
The meeting was informed that there were 1288 on going schemes, for which out of allocation, an amount of Rs52.536 billion were released and so far Rs24.876 billion had been spent.
With regard to 1323 new schemes, out of allocated amount, Rs46.966 billion had been released and so far Rs13.625 billion had been spent.
According to detailed summary, the total allocation of ADP was Rs161.000 billion and the Finance Department had so far released Rs57.233 billion while so far Rs28920 billion had been spent which was 51 percent of releases for total 2611 schemes (up-to February 6, 2012.The ADP amount for the year 2012-13 is Rs161.000 Billion.
The meeting was attended among others by Minister Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, Minister Information Sharjeel Enam Memon, Additional Chief Secretary (P&D) Arif Ahmed Khan, ACS (Finance) Naveed Kamran Baloch, Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Siddique Memon, Special Secretary (P&D) Dr Noorul Haq and other relevant officers.
