KARACHI - Effective steps have been undertaken for the control of the dengue virus.This was stated by the Focal Person of the Dengue Surveillance Cell, Dr Shakil Malik, on Thursday. He was speaking at a youth awareness programme organised at the University of Karachi. The moot was organised by the Sindh Youth Affairs Department in collaboration with the University of Karachi.Shakil Malik was of the view that concerted efforts were required for controlling the dengue virus. He said that the government has also taken effective steps to overcome the problem.Secretary of Pakistan Medical Association, Dr Qaiser Sajjad, highlighted the prevention aspect. He said that there was a need for fostering awareness regarding the diseases.Project Director Youth Awareness Programme, Salim Siddiqui, said that seminars would be organized all over the province.Secretary Youth Affairs Department, Sindh, Shoaib Siddiqui, called for the creation of a healthy society.The Chairperson of the Department of Microbiology, University of karachi, and programme organizers, Sumera Mushtaq, also expressed their views on the occasion.
