KARACHI - A suspected robber was killed in the police custody allegedly by the police torture on Thursday. In the meanwhile, police high ups have suspended SHO Fasihuddin and a police constable on the demand of the protesting relatives of the deceased who surrounded the police station. A 24-year-old Tayyab, son of Talib Ali was arrested by Hyderi police on September 2 over stealing of gold from a house of his neighbouring person, namely Taj in Kauser Niazi Colony. Police also arrested his brother Jaffar as well as his mother and a sister over their alleged involvement in the robbery.  As the news about his killing spread, a number of his relatives reached the police station and surrounded it. They staged a protest against the incident and claimed that the victim was killed by the police torture. They also demanded the government and police shigh-ups to take action against the killing of Tayyab in police custody and punish the policemen responsible for his killing. Following their demand, district central SSP Asim Qaimkhani suspended the SHO and another policeman and constituted an inquiry team headed by SP Noman Siddiqui to probe the case.
