KARACHI (PR) - Britain’s favourite department store, Debenhams, opened its first store in Pakistan at Dolmen City Mall, Clifton, Karachi in partnership with Team-A Ventures, with plans for further stores nationwide. The 27,000 sq ft store is Pakistan’s first ever international department store. Debenhams will be joining other British brands in Pakistan like Next, Mother Care, Early Learning Centre, Accessorize and Monsoon to bring popular goods to a growing market. Debenhams’s media launch was well attended by dignitaries, socialites and celebrities. The launch was inaugurated by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan. TAV MD Yasin Paracha, Debenhams GM Adnan Hamid and International Operations Director Peter King were also present at the auspicious occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ebad said, “The Pakistan government is sincerely committed to fostering bilateral trade ties between Pakistan and UK. I would like to congratulate Mr Yasin Paracha and Mr Adnan Hamid for bringing one of the best fashion international stores, Debenhams, to Pakistan. Debenhams’s entry into Pakistan will open several opportunities in the local market in terms of jobs, retail growth and of course fashion. I believe this will prove beneficial not only in the growth of this City but also the Country.” The stalwart retailer – Debenhams has sat front row to fashion for nearly two centuries. It has a unique department store format based on own label product, 95 brands in total, many of which will be available in store, the highlights will be ‘Designers at Debenhams’, an exclusive range of designer products by famous names including, Jasper Conran, John Rocha and Julien Macdonald. These are designer ranges at high street prices. Other UK based brands will include Red Herring, Maine, Collection, Pineapple, Thomas Nash, FFP and more.
