KARACHI - Clerics called for a complete shutter-down strike on Friday (today) throughout Sindh against the lawlessness in Karachi, demanding immediate impose of Governor’s Rule in Sindh.

Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Maulana Aswand Yar Khan, Mufti Muhammad Zarwali Khan, Maulana Hakeem Muhammad Mazher, Maulana Qari Muhammad Usman and other renowned Ulema were present in the meeting.
In a press briefing after the meeting Maulana Saleemullah Khan said that LEAs and the government had failed to protect the precious lives of the citizens. The clerics and seminary students were targeted in the metropolis while the provincial government has lost their right to govern.
He demanded the CM and governor to resign while federal government should impose Governor’s rule with assigning a non political governor. He also demanded to deweponized the city by the Pak Army to bring peace. He appealed the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto action against the killing of Ulema and seminary students. He further added that this shutter down strike is the initial step against the non serious attitude of the government.
We will bring our students on roads if the government failed to take immediate and serious action against the killing of the innocent citizens, he added.
Answering a question, Maulana Saleemullah Khan said law and order situation of Karachi was more unsatisfactory as compared to Balochistan.
Maulana Usmani said that religious segments belonging to Deoband sect should form a defensive committee to play role for the safety of clerics and students.
Meanwhile in a statement JUI (F) provincial leadership announced their support in the strike called and appealed the citizen, traders, transporters and other stake holder to observe a peaceful strike on Friday against the target killing of citizen and Ulemas in Karachi.
However, President of Karachi Transport Ittehad Irshad Bukhari assured them of participating in the stike. Jammat-e-Islami has also announced to support the shutter down strike.
JI decided to support the shutter down strike call on Friday (today) by Jammia Banori Town and the JUI-F. It appealed to the traders, transporters, citizens and other stakeholders of the City to observe shutter down strike and register their peaceful protest against the killings of religious clerics and unsatisfactory law and order situation of Karachi.
It demanded arrest of the killers involved in target killing.
