KARACHI – Scores of people on Sunday gathered in a peace walk to spread the message of harmony and love.
Participants of the walk, mostly dressed in white, were carrying placards, banners and Pakistani flags. They were chanting slogans of peace and love.
Addressing the participants, MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar said that only a handful of people were involved in creating unrest in Karachi and that the majority wanted to see peace and stability in Pakistan. “Success of peace walk is the victory of the peaceful people.”
He termed the peace walk a referendum against every form of terrorism, religious extremism and sectarianism. “The participants have spoken in favour of transforming Pakistan into a civilized, welfare and democratic polity.”
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Mustafa Kamal said that elements responsible for creating the law and order situation in Karachi were, in fact, conspiring against Pakistan. He said the people of Karachi would frustrate this negative propaganda by establishing peace and brotherhood. He said that the outpouring of the people on the appeal of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain had shown that they wanted nothing but peace.
It would help in creating an environment of peace and harmony in Karachi. MNA Khushbakht Shujaat said that creating unrest in the metropolis was a conspiracy against Pakistan and if the economical hub Karachi was allowed to fall in destruction, Pakistan would suffer.
