KARACHI – One of the two armoured personnel carriers of the NATO that were being taken to Afghanistan from Maripur area of the City on a trailer-truck caught fire in mysterious circumstances on Northern Bypass on Sunday. Police officials said it was not an act of terrorism because the fire broke out accidentally. Following this, a fire tender from the nearest fire station rushed and put out the fire before it could engulf the other APC and the trailer. In his statement to the police, the trailer-truck driver said the fire erupted due to certain faults in the vehicle’s brakes. He added that the police could not find any evidence from the site that could suggest that it was an act of terrorism. The police officials also said that there was no need to register any case as the fire broke out accidentally.
