PPP activist among eight gunned down

KARACHI – An activist of PPP among eight people were killed in separate acts of violence in different parts of the metropolis here on Wednesday. A worker of PPP was gunned down in North Naizamabad within the remits of Taimoria police station.Police officials said that the victim Saleem Lasi, 25, was sitting at a tea stall with his brother and nephew where two unidentified assailants riding a motorbike came and opened fire. Resultantly he sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the way to JPMC while his brother and nephew narrowly escaped the attack. The body was handed over to his family after medicolegal formalities. In another incident, a man was shot dead near Azeempura graveyard within the limits of Al-Falah police station.Police officials said that the victim Akbar, 40, the owner of garment shop, was sitting at his shop where unidentified assailants came and sprayed bullets. Resultantly, he received multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. Police rushed after being informed and shifted the body to JPMC for autopsy and later handed over to his family. Police lodged an FIR against unknown assailants.A man was shot dead in New Karachi Sector-5M within the limits of Bilal Colony police station.Police officials said that the victim namely Shahzad, 35, a resident of the same area, was standing outside a bakery located near his residence. Some unidentified dacoits came and tried to snatch cash, on which he offered resistance. The culprits opened fire on him. Resultantly he succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. The body was handed over to family after postmortem at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.  Meanwhile, a body of a man was found from Hawksbay within the jurisdiction of Maripur police station. Police officials said that the victim identified as Waleed, 35, was hailed from Balochistan. Police said some unidentified culprits kidnapped him from somewhere and shot him to death and later threw his body at the said place. Police said that the body of deceased was sent to the morgue after autopsy at Civil Hospital.Two gunny bag slaughtered bodies were found from Mewa Shah graveyard within the jurisdiction of Pak Colony police station.Police officials said that unidentified culprits kidnapped the victims from somewhere and threw their bodies at the said place after slaughtering. The identification of the victim was yet to be ascertained. The bodies were moved to morgue for identification after postmortem at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.Shershah Police found another shot dead near Lyari Expressway. Police officials said that the victim identified as Ali Mustafa had been kidnapped two days ago from Kharadar along with his friend by unidentified culprits.Culprits tortured and shot him multiple times and threw the body at the said place. After getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy and later handed over to his family. The motive behind the killing was yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, a gunny bag body of a man was found from Miran Naka Road in Site-B police precincts. Police officials said that the victim identified as Abdul Samad was also kidnapped from Kharadar along with his friend. Some unidentified culprits tortured and shot him multiple times before throwing his body at the said place. The body of the victim was later handed over to his heirs after medicolegal formalities at the CHK. It is to be noted here that at least dozen people have been abducted over suspicion of political affiliation from the surroundings of Lyari and their bodies were found form different areas of South Zone in last couple of days.Meanwhile, an alleged bandit was killed and another was arrested in Landi No.3, Sec 2-B within the jurisdiction of Landi police station.Police officials said that two unidentified bandits riding a motorbike came and looted Rs2600 from a vendor of bread delivery and tried to flee from the spot. Security guard of the bread company opened fire on them, resultantly one bandit received a bullet injury while another caught by the mob. Police reached the spot after getting information and shifted the injured to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Bandits were identified as Nadeem, son of Din Mohammad Baloch was a resident of Landi succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Another identified as Mehmood, son of Khurshed. Police recovered two TT pistols and a fake number plate of motorbike from their possession.
