Ban imposed on meat smuggling

KARACHI - The Sindh government has imposed ban on smuggling/transportation of animals and meat to Balochistan from Karachi.

Following the shortage and hike in the prices of meat, Commissioner Roshan Ali Shaikh has requested the Sindh government to impose ban on the transportation of animals to Balochistan as smuggling of the animals and meat causing hike in the prices of meat in the City.
Finally, the Sindh home department on Saturday imposed Section 144, banning the transportation of meat and animals to Balochistan from Karachi.
Recently, Kamran Qureshi, president of Meat Merchant Association had called on the commissioner and said that if the smuggling was not stopped it would be very difficult to keep the meat rates in control.
The prices of the beef and other meat are continuously rising in the City as beef was selling at Rs360 per kg and mutton at Rs580 to 650 per kg.
