KARACHI - For the first time in Pakistan, Islamic economics has been thoroughly explained with reference to Qur’anic verses and Ahadees in a book titled “Principles of Islamic Economics” authored by a research scholar and journalist Umer Latif.The book was launched at FPCCI head office at a simple but graceful ceremony, presided over by the president FPCCI Haji Fazal Kadir Sherani here Wednesday. Leading businessmen, bankers and scholars from India and Japan attended the ceremony.Speaking on the occasion, Sherani said this book has a new idea and discussed Islamic economics in different way. This is a good book that must be a part of higher studies curriculum and should be taught in colleges and universities so that it can create interest in our future generation, he added.In a lighter note, he said that a lean man has written a heavyweight book.The author said that this is the first study on subject in the given design. This 636 page-book has 29 topics dealing with all the aspects of Islamic economics.It also has detailed discussions on secular economics’s concepts, designs and pursuits.
