KARACHI - Newly-appointed Inspector General of Police Fayaz Leghari Thursday called on Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah at CM House. The chief minister while talking to IG Police Sindh said that the maintenance of law and order is priority of the government and efforts should be made to restore the peaceful atmosphere in the province particularly in the Karachi, which is economic hub of the country.Qaim said that it is prime responsibility of law enforcement agencies particularly the police and rangers to maintain law and order and take prompt action against criminals and anti-social elements. He added that Holy month of Ramadan is just about the corner and we have to adopt security measures including patrolling of police force and manning of police security pickets to curb crime. The chief minister also directed that police department to give daily brief the media about the latest progress and achievements made against criminals. Shah also asked the IGP to ensure security at various trade centres, bazaars and markets particularly the wholesale trade areas. The IGP assured the CM that round-the-clock security measures would be ensured and special measures would be adopted during Holy month of Ramadan. He also appraised the CM about security plan envisaged by Sindh police to strictly maintain law and order in the province.
