KARACHI - Police claimed to have arrested seven extortionists in separate raids in the metropolis on Tuesday.In a raid on Time Square near Nipa Chowrangi, three extortionists, Bilal Arshad, Danish Mehdi and Zeeshan, were rounded up. A 9 MM pistol and a repeater were seized from them. According to SHO Shahzada Saleem, the three extortionists had demanded Rs10,000 from an cyber café owner. He added that Bilal Arshad was a doctor by profession while the two others belonged to a student’s organisation from the Urdu University. In another raid on Sohrab Goth, four extortionists were held following a brief shootout.The arrested men were identified as Sher Alam, Kamal, Arfat Ullah and Rahim. Four TT pistols were seized from them. According to police officials, the accused had involvement in several cases of street crimes and extortion. At the time of their arrest, they were collecting extortion money from a trader namely Ayaz.
