Violence stings 10 more to death

KARACHI – Ten persons, including four policemen and a political activist were gunned down in various incidents of violence here on Tuesday.

In first incident, two patrolling policemen were shot dead at Kalapul Bridge by unidentified riders within the remits of Defence police station.
Police said that victims Javed and Imran were on routine patrol on a motorcycle when armed riders came and shot them multiple times near Kalapull Bridge and managed to flee. They were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced their deaths.
Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen sprayed bullets on a police mobile that left a sub-inspector dead while a constable was wounded near 7-Number Nazimabad within the remits of the Nazimabad police station.
Police said that police mobile was on a routine patrol when gunmen riding a motorbike sprayed bullets and managed to escape. As a result, sub-inspector Abid and a constable Sarfaraz sustained bullet wounds. They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced the death of Abid and admitted PC Sarfaraz.
Separately, a police man was shot dead in sector B, Gulshan-e-Ghazi within the limits of Mochko police station.
Police said that the deceased Gulsher, 39, was sitting outside his home where two armed riders opened fire at him. Resultantly, he sustained fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot. The body was shifted to CHK for medicolegal formalities. Police said that deceased was deployed in Garden Head Quarter and the motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained.
In another incident, a worker of the MQM was gunned down near Hamdard Hospital in Nazimabad police precincts.
Police said that the victim identified as Ejaz, 35, resident of Gulbahar area left home for workplace where unidentified culprits shot him multiple times and managed to flee. Resultantly, he died on the spot. The victim was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to the heirs. Police said that victim was an employee of a private hospital and suspected that the motive behind his killing was target killing while further investigation was underway.
Elsewhere, two gunmen killed a businessman while police guard deployed on fuel pump duty targeted them and killed an assailant and wounded his accomplice within the remits of FB Industrial Area police station. Police said that gunmen riding a motorbike chased a car (AAH-434) and opened indiscriminate fire on the vehicle at Rashid Minhas Road. The man was identified as Samiur Rehman.
Meanwhile, a policeman deployed on guard duty at a fuel station retaliated and targeted the attackers. Resultantly, assailants sustained bullet wounds and were caught by the locals of the area. One culprit died on the spot and his accomplice sustained bullet wounds who was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said that assailants had a criminal background.
Separately, two bullet-riddled bodies of men were found from bushes in Memon Goth within the remits of Memon Goth police station.
Police said that identification of the deceased had yet to be ascertained. Police said that victims were kidnapped by unidentified culprits who threw the bodies at an abandoned place. Police shifted the bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and later moved to morgue for identification.
In yet another incident, a body of a man was found from bushes of J-Area within the jurisdiction of Sharafi Goth police station.
Police said that victim Asghar, 32, son of Aziz was going somewhere when unidentified culprits kidnapped him and later dumped his body at an abandoned place. Police said that victim hailed from Multan, however, no relative or accomplice of him contacted the police. The body was moved to morgue after postmortem at JPMC.
