KARACHI - Speakers at the meeting of Shura Hamdard Karachi chapter paid rich tributes to Shaheed Hakim Muhammed Said on the occasion of his 14th death anniversary.

The meeting was held on the theme: “Shaheed-i-Pakistan Hakim Muhammed Said and his remarkable services to the humanity”. The meeting, which held at a local hotel, was presided over by former chief justice, Federal Shariat Court, Haziqul Khairi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mehdi Masud, former ambassador of Pakistan, said that the foremost and best quality of Hakim Said was his moral courage which gave him a prominent place among his contemporaries. In the absence of this quality, other qualities of a man are vulnerable to subside, he added.
He said that Hakim Said had done great work for health and education and made huge institutions for this purpose. Akbar Ilahabadi had said about Sir Syed that Syed worked whereas we only talked about. The same words could be applied on Hakim Said because he had done a lot like Sir Syed.
Sadia Rashid, president, Hamdard Foundation Pakistan was also present at the meeting.
Admiral (r) MI Arshad said that he didn’t only gave slogan of ‘Love Pakistan – Build Pakistan’ , but also materialised it by constructing a city of education, science and culture – Madinat al-Hikmah which was a source of practical inspiration for building the nation and the country. He gave new life to Eastern Medicine by providing it scientific base and introducing researches on its medicines, he added.
Dr Rizwana Ansari said that Hakim Said was the name of an ideology, evolved to fight against the ignorance and diseases. Hakim Said taught the nation through his writings to get rid of mental disability but it was an irony that this disability now had sent us to the verge of our destruction.
Prof Dr Hakim Abdul Hannan, acting Vice-Chancellor, Hamdard University said that the greatness of Hakim Said could be judged by the results of his services to welfare of the nation.
Khairi said that nobody could claim that he/she understood the ideology of Pakistan better than Quaid-i-Azam who very clearly defined it in his historic address to the first Constitutional Assembly of Pakistan on August 11, 1947. Hakim Said espoused Quaid’s ideas and highlighted them in his writings and speeches.
Later, the Shura prayed for complete recovery of Malala and offered fateha for Hakim Said.
