Anti-polio campaign launched

KARACHI – Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed on Saturday inaugurated mass immunization campaign against Polio being launched in all districts of Sindh, including Karachi, from Monday to Wednesday.

Speaking at the occasion, he said 7.4 million children under the age of 5 years would be vaccinated against Polio during mass immunization campaign across the province Health Minister said that around 21760 health teams will participate in the campaign under supervision of 4113 in-charges.
To improve the accessibility in the far flung area s of the province, as many as 4178 motorcycles and 1157 vehicles will also be used of the vaccinators, he added.
The minister expressed his serious concerns over detection of polio cases in the province, and urged the parents to ensure that their children get polio vaccine under routine immunization.
The minister stressed that it was the duty of all vaccinators and Lady Health Workers to ensure that every child under the age of five is vaccinated, during the campaign.
MNA Sufyan Yousuf, MPA Khalid Bin Wilayat, MPA Imam Din Shahzad, Deputy Commissioner Central Dr. Sefurrehman, Secretary Health Aftab Ahmed Khatri, Special Secretary Health Dr. Suresh Kumar, EDO Health Dr. Imdad Ullah and Town Health Officer Gulber Dr. Shehnaz also participated in the event.
