IGP wants details of police action

KARACHI - Taking strong notice of the press reports suggesting threats given by extortionists to the industrialists in marble business in the Manghopir area and incidents of dacoities in the area, the Inspector General of Police Sindh Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari has called for detailed report from the Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi says an official press release here on Saturday.

The Provincial Police chief also called for  the details of the actions taken on the complaints by owners of the marble factories, their association and representatives as well as the shopkeepers of the area in this behalf and the strategy adopted to stem recurrence of such incidents and its outcome, the press release said.
He directed the officials concerned to detail police personnel in and around all industrial areas, busy markets and shopping centres to re-win the confidence and trust of the traders’ community.
He further directed the Divisional Superintendents of Police to hold regular meetings with the representatives of the traders bodies and take appropriate measures on their suggestions for special security and keep continuous contact with the markets committees, industrial units and factory managements for timely action against extortionists and robbers.
