SITE given charge of burnt-out garments factory

 KARACHI – Upon the completion of fire brigade’s dousing operation and rescue services at the site of burnt garments factory in Baldia Town, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation gave the charge of the gutted building to the SITE Limited for further action on Thursday. According to KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed, teams of the KWSB, KPT, CAA and Navy took part in the rescue operation along with the KMC. He said that over 35 people were rescued during the operation.Putting the death toll around 250, Syed termed the loss of lives in the deadly inferno as a national tragedy. “We equally share the pain of deceased workers’ families.” Later, Dr Shaukat Zaman on behalf of the citizens of Karachi laid floral wreath at the fire site and offered fateha. Sindh Auqaf Minister Abdul Haseeb Khan, Karachi Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed, KMC Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan, DMC Administrator (West) Qamar Shaikh, Municipal Services Senior Director Dr Shaukat Zaman and others were present on the occasion.
