King of ghazal singing Mehdi Hassan laid to rest

Legend singer and king of ghazal singing Mehdi Hassan was laid to rest at Shah Muhammad Shah graveyard of the city on Friday.

His funeral was held after Friday prayers at Noorani Mosque, Al-Noor Society.
A large number of his fans, famous singers, politicians, social workers, actors, friends, family members and people of every cadre attended his last ceremonies.
He passed away on Wednesday after protracted illness. He was 85.
Mehdi Hassan was born in Luna village in Rajasthan in 1927. His father Ustad Azeem Khan and uncle Ustad Ismail Khan were renowned classical musicians. Mehdi Hassan acquired early training in music from them. After his family migrated to Pakistan he tried his hand at a few professions but once he started getting acknowledged as a singer, he decided to adopt it as a career.
He was a trend setter in ghazal singing. Many singers followed him throughout sub continent. Mehdi Hassan left nine sons, five daughter and thousands of fans behind him.
