May 15, 2012

KARACHI – The Pakistan Medical Association on Monday condemned the abduction of Dr Aftab Qureshi, a renowned neurosurgeon from Karachi.

In a joint statement, PMA office-bearers, Dr Tipu Sultan, Dr Mirza Ali Azhar, Dr Qaisar Sajjad, Dr Idrees Aidhi and Dr Qazi Wasiq, demanded early and safe recovery of Qureshi and strict action against his abductors; otherwise the PMA would call a protest and the government would be responsible for it.
The PMA deplored that there was no security for the common man and doctors. Dr Qureshi is associated with the Liaquat University of Medical Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, but he has a lot of patients in Karachi and other areas as well.
