Blaze-hit garment factory sealed

KARACHI - The ill-fated garment factory in Karachi has been sealed after completion of rescue operations.

At least 259 workers were burnt alive when the garment factory, situated at the Hub River Road, caught fire on Wednesday. Police have sealed the factory after getting clearance from the rescue teams who completed the rescue operation at the site after three days. Heavy contingent of police has been deployed outside the factory and entry in the factory has been banned.
MQM BODY PRAISES SIDDIQUI’S RESIGNATION: The Rabita Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has praised Rauf Siddiqui for resigning as the Sindh Minister for Industries and said that he has set an example by resigning position at the call of his conscience.  It said that Rauf Siddiqui has not only resigned but also presented himself before the public for accountability, said a statement issued by the MQM on Friday.
 It said that Rauf Siddiqui has demonstrated by resigning and following the teachings of MQM chief Altaf Hussain that every worker of the MQM holding any public office is always answerable to the public.
Meanwhile, Sindh Building Control Authority rejects the allegations for its involvement in approving building plan of inferno factory and caused death of large number of workers.
Spokesperson of the authority, said the factory is located in industrial area and it falls in the jurisdiction of Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate SITE, which is responsible for approving construction plans of the industries in its area.
