UN team meets Qaim

KARACHI - An eight-member UN working group on enforced or involuntary disappearances in Pakistan led by its chief Oliver De Frouville on Friday held a meeting with Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah at Chief Minister House.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbad, IGP Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Siddique Memon, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Waseem Ahmed and others.  The chief minister while welcoming the delegation informed that there is full fledged set-up and system in the province while Chief Justice of Pakistan has also been taking full interest on issues of human rights.
Qaim Ali Shah further said that human rights cells have been set up at Supreme Court of Pakistan, offices of Chief Secretary, IGP and other department to protect the human rights in Pakistan. Shah further informed the working group that since last 4 and half years there is no political prisoners in the province. He added that in case of any violation of human rights is observed or known, immediate and prompt action is being taken by the government against violators. Head of delegation Oliver De- Frouville discussed issues of human rights in the meeting and hoped that the people will be provided relief.
