MQM quits alliance with PPP

Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has quit alliance with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Sindh and federal government, announced senior leader Farooq Sattar.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting of the Coordination Committee Farooq Sattar on Saturday said it was not possible for MQM to continue its cooperation with the PPP government.
“MQM ends its alliance with PPP and quits provincial and federal governments, he said; adding the decision was final and irreversible.
“PPP leadership has never been serious in addressing the issues important to MQM, he said.
He said local government system was not restored despite repeated promises.
Sattar alleged that PPP is patronizing the criminals of People’s Aman Committee and Layari Gang War terrorists.
“These elements are involved in kidnapping for ransom, extortion and terrorism,” he said.
Traders, police officials and MQM workers were targeted by these elements.
He said instead of snubbing these criminals, PPP government has withdrawn cases against them and is protecting them.
He further accused that the government had been creating hurdles for the ministers of MQM.
“We cooperated with PPP for the continuation of the democratic process but now it is not possible for us,” he said.
Farooq Sattar has said politics of hereditary must come to an end.
In a statement he said law and order situation in Karachi is aimed at destabilizing the country.
He said restoration of peace in Karachi is must prior to holding of elections.
