KARACHI  - Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said the Sindh Assembly had come up with excellent performance during the past four years. He was speaking at a seminar organized at a local hotel, the topic of the moot was role of the teachers towards the betterment of education, says a statement on Friday..Nisar Khuhro said that the teachers have a key role towards the impartation of knowledge and betterment of the academic standard.He said that without headway in the realms of education, the progress cannot be attained.The Speaker pointed out that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto wanted to spread education in every nook and corner of the country. That is why she always accorded top priority to education. “We would continue her mission”, he added.Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq said that no pressure will be tolerated in the realms of education and there will only be the merit as sole criterion. He pointed out that as many as 1,400 dis-functional schools in the province have been made functional.Pir Mazhar said that in the first phase 19,000 teachers would be hired while in the second 8,000 more teachers would be recruited on the basis of merit.He stated that for provision of good teachers, Sindh teachers Education Development Authority has been set up.The Minister was of the view that Sindh was ahead compared to other provinces in reforms in the education sector.CM SINDH APPLAUDS FED GOVT REDUCING FUEL PRICES Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has appreciated the decision of Federal Government thereby reducing the prices of petroleum items, and said that the decision will be beneficial to common men.  While commenting on the measures by federal government, Qaim Ali Shah termed the decision as public oriented and said that the overall prices dependable of petrol and other commodities of petroleum will also be reduced including transport fares. Sindh Chief Minister thanked to the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on their prompt decision aimed at to provide relief to people of Pakistan.
