PPP leader among 7 gunned down in Karachi

A Pakistan People’s Party local leader was among seven gunned down in Karachi on Tuesday, officials said.

According to local police, unknown armed men riding a bike opened fire at Sajjad Balti in North Karachi area within the remits of Shara-e-Norr Jehan and managed to flee.
Balti sustained five bullets and died on the spot. His body was taken to a government-run medical facility for autopsy.
However, official said the PPP leader was targeted by a 9mm pistol, the arm which is being used in most of the targeted killings in the city.
Earlier, four people were reported killed in the city violence. Two tortured dead bodies, packed in gunny bags, were found near Crown Cinema, Mauripur Road.
Another body was found from Bihar Colony last night. Police said that the victims were kidnapped and later killed.
A man was shot dead in unidentified gunmen’s firing in New Town.
