Political activist among 10 killed in Karachi

At least ten more people, including a political activist and a woman, have been gunned down in different areas of Karachi since last night, police and witnesses said Sunday.

Political activist Liaqat Bangash’s death has become a mystery as different opinions are presented as his death’s cause.
Bangash died in Rabia City, Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of the city on Sunday morning. Police said that he tried to escape and jumped from the fourth floor of a building that caused his death.
On the other hand, Bangash’s friends and party workers said that he was poisoned to death. Police said that he was wanted in several cases. A large number of the people gathered to see his dead body at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC).
Bangash’s death sparked tension in the area as five people, including two policemen, were reported injured in firing incidents. Police have arrested several suspects.
Three men were gunned down by unknown armed man on Superhighway, near Nagori Stop in the limits of Gadap Police Station. The deceased were identified as Rashid, Iqbal and Mehmood, all in their early thirties. Their bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a middle age man died when unidentified armed men opened fire on him in Baldia Town. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Identify of the deceased could not be ascertained.
Moreover, bullet riddled bodies of two young men were found in Lyari area in the limits of Baghdadi Police station. They were identified as Asif and Ayub. Bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi.
The body of 20-year-old Muhammad Tanvir was found in Alamgir road area in Shershah. Cause of his death could not be ascertained. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem.
Four-day old body of 35-year-old Robeena w/o Hussain was found in Malir, Khokhrapar area. The body was buried in lawn of a house. It was shifted to Jinnah postgraduate Medical Center.
