KARACHI - The Consul General of US in Karachi Michael Dodman during his meeting with the Sindh chief minister on Tuesday said that the USAID intends to establish a modern hospital with all essential facilities at Jacobabad, a border district of the Sindh province with Balochistan. Usaid delegation, led by Dodman and Regional Director USAID Edward Brigells, met with Chief Minister Sindh at CM Secretariat and discussed the uplift projects, which USAID intends to initiate in the province.The US CG said proposed modern hospital in Jacobabad will be having all facilities, including OPD blocks, admissions indoor blocks which will be later enhanced to the level of teaching hospital. The US Consul General also informed that the project will be completed within one year, while libraries will be constructed in various towns of Sindh province and in first phase, three libraries are being established at Hyderabad, Khairpur and Larkana. Dodman further informed that in collaboration of Sindh Culture department, English language learning centres have been established in major cities of Sindh and 1500 students have alone been trained in Karachi and 700 students have imparted English learning at Hyderabad.The Chief Minister Sindh stressed that there is need of assistance in health and education sectors and particularly in Jacobabad and other areas of upper Sindh, there is more need of healthcare for neglected people. Besides, there is also need of libraries in many towns of the province, he said.Chief Minister Sindh appreciated the gesture of USAid for its intention to establish modern hospital in Jacobabad and emphasized the need that formalities are to be completed. CM said that matter will be presented in Sindh Provincial Assembly to smoothly implement the projects with legislation. Qaim Ali Shah suggested with emphasis that USAID may initiate Teachers Training Programme under latest and modern training methods so as to improve standard of education and quality literacy procedures. Chief Minister Sindh added that MoU will be signed by USAID and Sindh Government while Secretary Health and Special Secretary (P&D) will prepare PC-I and other formalities for signing MoU.It was informed that initially one billion rupees will be spent on hospital of Jacobabad. He welcomed and appreciated the efforts of USAID, and hoped that more projects aimed at health, education sectors will be enhanced for the people of Sindh province. The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Siddique Memon, Secretary Health Sindh Aftab Ahmed Khatri, Special Secretary (P&D) Dr Noorul Haq and others.
