KARACHI – Sindh Excise and Taxation Department claimed to have seized 227-kg heroin, 8,965-kg marijuana and arrested 329 drug peddlers, said provincial minister Mukaish Kumar Chawala. Talking on the occasion of torching substance at Super Highway here on Tuesday, he said that last year the excise department had target of Rs23 billion but it achieved Rs25 billion revenue. He further said that the department had promoted 800 employees and provided 1,200 jobs on merit. He also claimed that the department of excise collected 70 per cent of province total revenue. Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon was also present on the occasion. He said, “Pakistan People’s Party seeks narcotic free Pakistan and we are trying to wipe out this menace from further spreading.”
