KW&SB has written letters to all such departments currently acquiring the supply through tanker service however dues are still unpaid from some defaulting provincial and federal institutions. The unpaid dues are of large sums, which is why instruction of special attention towards these defaulters has been issued.
Strict action against these defaulters would be the last resort. Last week, KW&SB disconnected water supply to Railway City & Cantt station after repeated reminders and Court Order to Pakistan Railways to pay their 140 million dues.
KW&SB has also discontinued the Gratis (Free) Tanker Service after it became a financial burden on the institution. Paid tanker service from approved hydrants is still active and a computerized check and balance system has been established across all hydrants in the city. However, these hydrants are bound to supply within the given schedule.
KW&SB has also written letters to the towns to pay their outstanding dues; from the time when Water Tanker Service was handed over to towns by City Nazim.
Towns were responsible for collection from Tanker Services during this time however years after KW&SB dues are yet to be paid.
Bringing Public Accounts Committee in on the matter, the KW&SB has sent copies of letter written to government institutions and towns to the PAC so that the PAC may play its role.
