KMC meeting on City cleansing

KARACHI - KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has directed the department concerned to focus on the cleanliness.

He was chairing a meeting which was attended by Technical Services DG Altaf G Memon, Parks & Horticulture Director Niaz Ahmed Soomro, Health Services Senior Director Dr Shoukat Zaman and other officials.
The administrator stressed the need for more tree plantation and greenery in the city with the participation of citizens.
He said to all five district municipal corporations to carry out joint works with the KMC’s Works & Services and Health Department and ensure cleanliness across the city.
The senior director of health gave a briefing to the meeting, saying that 8175tonne garbage removed daily from various areas to the KMC landfill sites at Jam Chakro and Gondpas.
He said removing silt from 13 major drains in Karachi was underway while measures were also being adopted taken for carrying out the campaigns to save the city from waterborne diseases.
The technical services director general said the drainage system laid in Clifton and KDA Chowrangi would help drain rainwater at these busy junctions.
He said that about 25 locations in the city were identified where rain water stayed during rains. Administrator Karachi directed D.G Parks to ensure cleanliness in all KMC parks with tree plantation so that the citizens could avail even better recreation facility.
He also instructed Director Medical Services to pay special attention on the cleaning of all small and big hospitals, dispensaries and maternity homes run by KMC.
He said KMC is a public service organization and therefore all of its departments must ensure immediate resolution of citizen’s complaints regarding municipal affairs.
